Wherein the husband is trying to hide his salary, the court is of the opinion that the court can estimate the salary of the husband in order to award maintenance to the wife. In this case, the court looked at the able bodied man who was an ex-serviceman and estimated that even if he was working as an unskilled laborer, he must be earning at least Rs. 20,000 per month. Thus, he cannot run from his responsibility of maintaining his daughter and his wife by hiding his salary and the court is well within their rights to estimate his salary.
